Using the Copilot
The Rentametrix Copilot is a chat-based AI assistant that helps you explore your portfolio data, analyze market trends, and generate actionable insights — all through natural language. This guide covers the fundamentals of working with Copilot effectively.
Opening Copilot
Section titled “Opening Copilot”Click the Copilot icon in the left sidebar, or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+K (Windows) / Cmd+K (Mac) to open the Copilot panel from anywhere in the app.
Asking Questions
Section titled “Asking Questions”Copilot understands natural language questions about your connected data. You do not need to write queries or know specific field names. Just ask in plain English.

Section titled “Understanding Responses”Copilot responses can include:
- Text summaries with key takeaways
- Tables showing detailed data breakdowns
- Charts visualizing trends and comparisons
- Source citations showing where the data came from
Every data point includes provenance information. Hover over a citation badge to see the original source — whether it is your PMS data, a market survey, or an enriched data point.
Follow-Up Questions
Section titled “Follow-Up Questions”Copilot maintains context within a conversation. You can ask follow-up questions without repeating yourself:
You: What is the average rent for 2BR units in my Austin properties?Copilot: The average effective rent for 2-bedroom units across your 5 Austin properties is $1,425/bed...
You: How does that compare to the market?Copilot: Your Austin 2BR rents are approximately 4.2% above the market average of $1,367/bed...
You: Break that down by property.Copilot: [Table showing per-property comparison]Pinning Insights to Dashboards
Section titled “Pinning Insights to Dashboards”When Copilot returns a result you want to keep, you can pin it to a Dashboard for ongoing reference.
- Hover over the Copilot response (table, chart, or metric).
- Click the Pin icon that appears in the top-right corner.
- Select an existing dashboard or create a new one.
- The insight will appear on your dashboard and refresh automatically as new data arrives.
Pinned items are live — they are not static snapshots. As your underlying data updates through PMS syncs, pinned insights reflect the latest numbers.
Opening Results in Canvas
Section titled “Opening Results in Canvas”For deeper analysis, click Open in Canvas on any Copilot response. This transfers the data into the Canvas workspace where you can:
- Add or remove columns
- Apply filters and sorts
- Create additional visualizations
- Export to Excel or PDF
- Share with teammates
